Which TCR campaign use case should I choose?

When creating a campaign, you'll need to select a use case. Use cases define the type of messaging you plan to send using the campaign. This article will help guide you toward selecting the correct use case based on your entity and messaging type.

What are the different use cases?

There are two broad types of campaigns available that use TCR scores in different ways:

• Standard Campaigns:  
  • Availability for standard campaigns is determined by the brand’s tax status (e.g., 501(c) designation, for profit, government entities et al.).
  • The throughput available via standard campaigns is heavily influenced by the Brand's score. The higher the TCR Score, the more messages brands can send over a given period of time. 
• Special Campaigns:
  • Availability is determined by the brand’s tax status (e.g. 501(c) designation, 527, “For Profit” et al.)
  • For Special Campaigns, AT&T ignores the Brand's score while T-Mobile does not for most use cases. Instead, the throughput for each special campaign is set. 

The use cases available during registration are dependent on your brand's tax-exempt status so you may not see all of the below options in the campaign form.

Commonly Used Standard Campaigns

• Account Notification: Sending standard account notifications, alerts and updates to user or business account holders.
• Customer Care: Conversational customer support interactions.
• Higher Education: Messaging on behalf of colleges or universities, as well as school districts and educational institutions.
• Polling & Voting: For conducting polls and surveys (not for political elections).
• Public Service Announcement: PSAs to raise audience awareness about a given topic.
• Mixed*: Any messaging campaign containing 2 to 5 standard use cases. With the Mixed campaign, brands will need to select at least two and up to five sub-use cases. This way, Mixed campaigns operate like five campaigns in one.
  

Additional Standard Campaigns

• 2FA: Any authentication or account verification such as a one time password.
• Delivery Notification: Status of delivery of a product or service.
• Fraud Alert Messaging: Messaging about potentially fraudulent activity such as spending alerts.
• Low Volume Mixed*: Messaging that may have multiple use cases but only needs very low messaging throughput (e.g., test or demo accounts, small businesses).
• Marketing†: Communications that include sales marketing or commercial promotional content (e.g., sale notifications, discount codes, ticket sales, etc).
• Security Alert: Notification of a compromised system (software or hardware related).

Commonly Used Special Campaigns

• Charity*: Communications from a registered 501(c)(3) Nonprofit aimed at providing help and raising money for those in need. Limited to 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
• Emergency: Notification services designed to support public safety/health during natural disasters, armed conflicts, pandemics, and other national or regional emergencies. 
• Political*: Part of an organized effort to influence the decision-making of a specific group.
  

Additional Special Campaigns

• Agents & Franchises‡: Brands that have multiple agents, franchises or offices in the same brand vertical, but require individual localized numbers per agent/location/office. Common examples include insurance and real estate agencies. 
• Proxy‡: Peer-to-peer app-based group messaging with proxy/pooled numbers. Supporting personalized services and non-exposure of personal numbers for enterprise or A2P communications. Examples include companies like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, DoorDash et al. 
• K-12 Education: Campaigns created for messaging platforms that support virtual learning and communication between students, teachers, and parents from grades K-12 and distance learning centers. This is not for post-secondary schools.
• Social‡: Communication within or between closed communities. Examples include social media influencers and content creators messaging their followers. 
• Sole Proprietor: ​​An unincorporated business owned by an individual.
  • Note: Registering as a Sole Proprietor is not currently supported within Hustle's Admin panel. 
• Sweepstake: ​​All sweepstakes messaging.

* Contain sub-use cases. 

‡ At this time we generally do not recommend admins register campaigns using the Agents & Franchises, Proxy or Social special use case campaigns. In addition to unknown wait times for carrier approval, these campaigns were designed for very specific types of customers as shared in the examples above. If your brand does not look like one of the examples shared above, it is likely your campaign will be rejected by carriers after a lengthy delay. 

What use case should my entity type select?

501c3s (non-Higher Education)

• If a 501c3 intends to fundraise over text, they must select the Charity use case. 
  • If the registered Brand is a 501c3 and Charity is not available in the registration form, please reach out to support@hustle.com 
• If a 501c3 does not intend to fundraise over text, they can select one of the below use cases or can select the Mixed use case with a combination of sub use cases depending on their message types. The following sub use cases are often selected:
  • Account Notification: For event information and invitations, membership notifications and Organization and advocacy alerts.
  • Customer Care: For supportive outreach, follow ups and conversational assistance.
  • Emergency: For emergency and safety alerts
  • Marketing: For Commercial sales and marketing (e.g. selling merchandise, sharing discount codes etc.)

501c4s

• 501c4s should always use the Political use case.
  • If the registered Brand is a 501c4 and the Political use case is not available in the registration form, please reach out to support@hustle.com 
• If the 501c4 intends to conduct commercial sales and marketing such as selling merchandise and sharing discount codes, they should select the Marketing sub use case.

501c5s and Labor Unions

• 501c5s can generally select one of the below use cases or can select the Mixed use case with a combination of sub use cases depending on their messaging types. The following sub use cases are often selected:
  • Account Notification: For Membership updates, bargaining and contract information, strike and rally info, and voting reminders.
  • Customer Care: For meeting invites, supportive outreach, and assistance.
  • Emergency: For emergency and safety alerts.
  • Polling and Voting: for conducting polls and surveys (this is not for political messaging about voting in government elections.) 
• If the 501c5 intends to communicate political messaging about government elections, they should select the Political use case. 
  • If you need to use the political use case and the Political use case is not available in the registration form, please reach out to support@hustle.com 

501c6s and Trade Associations

• 501c6s can generally select one of the below use cases or can select the Mixed use case with a combination of sub use cases depending on their messaging types. The following sub use cases are often selected:
  • Account Notification: For association and membership information and industry announcements.
  • Customer Care: For Meeting invites, supportive outreach and assistance.
  • Emergency: For emergency and safety alerts.
  • Polling and Voting: For conducting polls and surveys (this is not for political messaging about voting in government elections.) 
• If the 501c6 intends to communicate political messaging about government elections, they should select the Political use case. 
  • If you need to use the political use case and the Political use case is not available in the registration form, please reach out to support@hustle.com 

Higher Education

• Higher Education: For alumni and student communications
• Charity: If the bulk of their messaging is about fundraising

Government

• Government entities can generally select one of the below use cases or can select the Mixed use case with a combination of sub use cases depending on their messaging types. The following sub use cases are often selected:
  • Public Service Announcement: For sharing information and alerts about events, services, programs and infrastructure updates.
  • Emergency: For emergency and safety alerts
  • Polling and Voting: For conducting polls and surveys (this is not for political messaging about voting in government elections.) 

Candidates, Parties, PACS, 527s

• Candidates, Parties, PACS and 527s should always use the Political use case.
  • If the registered Brand is a Candidate, Party, PAC or 527 and the Political use case is not available in the registration form, please reach out to support@hustle.com 

Other
