Admins can add contacts (also known as leads) to Hustle groups:
- individually
- via CSV file
- via a third-party integration
To add leads into Hustle, you’ll at least need to enter and specify the lead's:
- First name
- Last name
- Phone number

How do I add a single contact?
To add contacts individually:
- From the admin panel, click Groups > the name of the group you want to add contacts to.
- Click Contacts > Add Contacts.
- Click Add Contact.
- Enter the contact’s information and Click Save.
- If you plan on assigning contacts, you can also assign the contact to an agent here.
- If Notify Agent is checked, a push notification will get sent to the agent letting them know about their new assigned contact.
Note: In shared groups, when contacts are Assigned, contacts can only be messaged by their assigned agents. For more information, see How do I use shared groups?
How do I add contacts via CSV?
To add contacts in bulk, admins will need to use a CSV file with the information of the leads.
With the CSV file:
- From the admin panel, click Groups > the name of the group you want to add contacts to.
- Click Contacts > Add Contacts.
- Click Choose a CSV file.
- After you’ve selected your CSV file, use the drop down menu to map the phone number, first name, and last name headers to the columns of your CSV file.
- If you plan on assigning contacts, you can assign leads to agents by using the drop-down menu under How do you want to assign new contacts? For more information about Assigned contacts, see How do I use shared groups? Note: When contacts are assigned, only the assigned agent can message the contact. Leave contacts unassigned if you want every agent in the group to be able to message and respond to every contact.
- Use custom fields to add additional fields like county or custom ID to your contact list while importing leads. For more information about custom fields, see How do I use custom fields?
- Click into the field at the bottom of the page and select any tags you’d like to apply to the leads in the import. For more information about tags, see How do I use tags?
- Click Import Contacts to start adding the leads into the group.
• The unique identifier of leads is their phone number; if a number appears twice in an import, Hustle will correct the list so only one record exists per phone number. If a lead has more than one phone number, Hustle will create a contact for each mobile phone number.
• If you upload a phone number that already exists in the group, Hustle will still dedupe and keep one lead record, but any new information about the lead (Custom fields, tags, name, etc.) will get updated.
• During the import, Hustle "scrubs" the phone numbers to determine if it's a mobile, landline or VOIP number. If a number is a landline or VOIP number, it’ll be marked as untextable. For more information, see Do landlines count toward contract limit?

How do I add contacts via an integration?
Hustle has a number of integrations available with third-party databases (VAN, Salesforce, Blackbaud etc.) that allow you to share the data you collect in Hustle with those databases and vice versa. For more information about Hustle’s integrations, see Integrations.
