Toll-free messaging is a type of messaging service that allows organizations to send SMS and MMS messages from a toll-free number, such as those starting with 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, 833, and 800. This approach ensures reliable message delivery regardless of your profile, helping critical messages reach people during emergencies or time‑sensitive campaigns.
- Toll-free numbers are also only available for clients using Broadcast to send messages (they cannot currently be used to send messages in Hustle groups).
- A toll-free number is only permitted for use by one brand for one type of messaging use case (political, emergency alerts, fundraising et al.)
Why register for a Toll-Free Number?
- It can take several months to register, get approved, and start sending messages for a short code. The 10DLC (10-digit local area phone number) registration process can also take several weeks to complete. With toll-free numbers, you may be verified in one week and be able to start sending messages more quickly.
How do I register for a Toll-Free Number?
To register for a new Toll-Free Number with Hustle, contact your Client Success Manager. If you do not know who your client success manager is contact support@hustle.com.

Yes. Hustle provides customers the flexibility to use your existing message allowance to send messages with, whether the phone number is a 10-digit local area number, toll free number, or Short Code.
